Visual Vibrations_ Blog Idol

by Yeung Ma Lee Mary

Little girls and some women are addicted to play some kinds of fashion dolls. These dolls have a wonderful outlook, and they are the ideal images for people. When playing with fashion dolls, people can change their clothes, shoes and accessories etc… Some of the players will imagine that the dolls are themselves, and they cannot stop themselves from pretending to live as a fashion doll in their real life. Furthermore, the internet has pushed the phenomenon of fashion dolls ahead, and many Blog Idols have emerged in the cyber world. As being a Blog Idol, people are not only dressing like fashion dolls, but they also have exaggerated makeup and created their own characters and lifestyles. In the cyber world, people post their pictures, words, sounds and even videos to share their Bolg Idols’ lives with others. In other words, they can influence each other. Gradually, people will lose their unique identity, and look for a fake character when they have become addicted to be a Blog Idol.

I have designed a series of blog idol dolls’ packaging to enable people to understand the phenomenon of Blog Idol. You can recreate yourself by following the three types of Blog Idols. These three types are make-up idol, fashion idol and lifestyle idol.

Visual Vibrations_ Beauty And The Beast

by Cheng Kwan Yui Angel

For decades, companies have been using animals to prove that their products are safe for humans. This has become a very inhumane practice in which millions of animals are subjected to intolerable cruelty.

According to recent research, animal testing for cosmetics has been banned in a number of European countries. However, the message of “cruelty-free” is still not spread in Asia. Japan is one of the countries support animal test. Companies in Japan have produced many brands of cosmetic, such as SK-II, Shiseido, and RMK…etc. These brands are famous in Hong Kong. For the public, they are attracted by the nice packaging. Also some of them even don’t know about the ingredients and the animal test. On the scientific side, many non-animal tests were developed. Instead of measuring how long it will take a chemical to burn away the cornea of a rabbit’s eye, manufacturers could now drop that chemical onto donated human corneas. These and dozens more tests in use today are cheaper, faster, and more accurate at predicting human reactions to a product than the old animal tests ever were. Beauty and the beast is project to remind everyone that animals were suffer from the animal test and they died in a cruel way. It was inhumane.

Visual Vibrations_ Art Makes Public

by Lam Kin Pong Leo

In this few years, a big reverberation from the public was created by many artists who have performed in the pedestrian area in Sai Yeung Choi Street South in Mongkok. This issue has been influencing people of Hong Kong to pay more attention to the use of the public space and the definition of ‘Art’.

In this project, different messages of ‘Art’ will be introduced to the public in the pedestrian area. It is essential to encourage creative input to regenerate Hong Kong. Modern society undoubtedly needs creativity and vision of the importance of art. In additional, ‘Art Makes Public’ would also document how the public will react on art activities in Sai Yeung Choi Street. Let people think about their relationship between art and themselves in public area, and public criticize what form of ‘Art’ they really needed.
