Visual Vibrations_ IRONMAN

by Ng So Yee Marilyn

Bodybuilders break though their limits with their mind maximize and challenge their body muscle hypertrophy. They follow a special diet everyday, and put training as their daily routine, even risking their health and physical appearance… For outsiders, their habits may seem impossible or even nothing important, yet these are the true stories from the bodybuilders in Hong Kong portraying their endurance and persistence.

IRONMAN is a free paper aimed to raise the awareness of the general public about how the bodybuilders give themselves courage to break through their ‘normal’ body limits, and the meanings of doing it. Four bodybuilders explained their reasons for bodybuilding: for power; for beauty; for honor; and for acceptance. Let us hear their realistic personal stories behind their endeavour and tough bodybuilding lives.

Visual Vibrations_ Happy Meal

by Wong Fun Fun Annie

In recent years, a new category of drugs have appeared in the market. These drugs claim that they are designed for our body health, and are named “recreational drugs”. Recreational drugs are drugs that “re-supply” sustenance to our body or improve the physiological function of our body. A newspaper clipping from “Mingpao Daily” reported that there are 1.29 millions of people in Hong Kong who have been taking recreational drugs. That means there is 1 out of 6 people who has taken those drugs. Hong Kong is a very crowded and busy city, people even do not have time to keep a normal diet. And thus, many people think that by taking recreational drugs, they can maintain a healthy life. Taking “medicine” has become more prioritize rather than normal diet.

The aim of this project “Happy Meal” is to question about people’s behavior on recreational drugs. The project is called “Happy Meal” because when people take those drugs, they believe those drugs will make them healthier. After taking those drugs, they seem to become healthier, and this satisfaction makes them “happy”. So they feel that there is no need to have normal diet.

Visual Vibrations_ Fable

by Yip Kai Hang Kenneth

Everyday, we receive a lot of information from different media. All information is supposed to be the truth, but we can find some information are fake. Food label is a kind of information which we read in our daily life. It shows food description, ingredient and expire date. People read food label because they do not want any harmful ingredient to affect their heath. They spend time to read and analyze which one is good for them. Many countries encourage their populace to read food label before they buy any food. However, we still find some food labels contains\ untrue information.

This project is a fake food and drink brand call “Fable”, because it is a short tale to teach a moral lesson and a story not founded on fact. The products of this project is the same as fable to aware people that some food labels are not real, and will affect our health. “Fable” has two series of products: Snow White apple product and Hansel and Gretel candy product. It is because the foods in these fairy tales are harmful. The packages contain illustrations that are scenes in the fairy tales. The dialogue on the package will question about the doubt of food which aims to awake consumer that some foods in supermarket are fake or harmful.
